BuiltWith Updates

Written on September 19, 2007

Hi and thank you for subscribing to the BuiltWith blog, there are apparently 108 subscribers, so I’ll be careful what I write from now on.It’s amazing how the ideas you think that are going to “make it” fizzle out whilst the ones that you don’t really expect to take off do. BuiltWith.com honestly came out of browsing a web site one day and thinking “I wonder what this website is built with“.

New Feature - Technology Information

Today a new feature has been released which provides a bit more information for the technologies listed on the site. Instead of taking you directly to the homepage of the technology, an interim page has been developed which lists popular sites using the technology as well as a couple of other technologies that have been tagged in the same area.

The popular sites list doesn’t come from the most requested sites on BuiltWith but rather an Alexa Top 100 list. The ‘most profiled’ list appears to have been abused by some optimistic people trying to get sites onto the homepage of BuiltWith.com (hence the removal of the tag cloud).

See the screenshot below of how the Google Analytics technology page looks -

Advertising

The (what I thought was brilliant) system of getting advertises to bid for spots on the top of each page has ended. I made sure that your accounts had reached zero dollars before ending the featured content advertising.

The reason behind this is I am able to get more revenue using Google Adsense - if you can’t beat them, join them. However, if you want a custom advertising solution feel free to contact me at gary@builtwith.com.
