The BuiltWith Free API lets you perform domain lookups to get technology group and category totals and technology update dates for web domains. This new API endpoint has multiple functions -
- You can add some generic information to your own products - i.e. "site xyz.com has 2 marketing automation tools currently in use"
- You can use it alongside the Domain API, ensuring that a record has changed before committing to using a paid for API credit.
Anyone can use the Free API you just need a free account the only restriction is that lookups are rate limited, just like free profiles lookups. Rate limits can be removed for paying Domain API customers if requested.
Responses come back as either XML or JSON, whichever you choose, making the API widely compatible with all systems.
