We've launched the BuiltWith VAT API, a new API for finding VAT numbers and other company registration identifiers from website domains.

Give the API a domain and it can return available VAT, ABN, ACN, CNPJ, GSTIN, EIN, SIREN, SIRET and other company registration numbers that BuiltWith has identified from publicly available information on websites.

The API is designed for workflows where you already have a website or business email domain and want to enrich that information with company registration data. This can be useful for B2B signup and checkout flows, CRM enrichment, company identification, tax workflows and large-scale business data enrichment.

The API can also return the company name, address and country associated with the domain, allowing a website to be converted into a more complete company record with a single lookup.

The API supports JSON, XML and CSV responses and up to 16 domains can be included in a single request. A lookup costs one BuiltWith API credit when registration data is returned, while domains where no registration information is found do not consume a credit.

For bulk lookups without writing any code, we’ve also launched Website2VAT.com. You can paste a list of websites or upload a CSV, TSV, XLSX, Numbers or text file containing up to 10,000 rows and receive the available VAT and company information as a clean table.

This makes it possible to take an existing list of customers, prospects, ecommerce stores or company websites and quickly enrich it with available business registration information.

All registration identifiers returned by the service have been found where they have been publicly announced or displayed on websites. They should be independently verified with the relevant official authority before being relied upon for tax, invoicing or compliance decisions.
